The Learning Gym Assessment
WHAT ASSESSMENTS WILL BE DONE?
The following forms are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
HOW ARE LEARNING DISABILITIES ASSESSED?
The Learning Gym uses the S.O.I. Abilities Assessment to test for learning disabilities.
The S.O.I. (Structure of Intellect) Testing identifies and assesses 26 cognitive and 11 perceptual skills. This provides a unique profile for each student which outlines their strengths and weaknesses.
The results of the assessment are used to create an individualized program tailored to correct areas of weakness. The goal of the program is to develop cognitive abilities and strengthen perceptual skills.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD NEEDS TO BE ASSESSED?
While there are many indications that a child may have trouble learning, some of the most common include:
- can't sit still or pay attention for a long period of time
- is disorganized or frustrated by studying
- is slow or unable to complete tasks
- gets poor grades in basic subjects
- often makes careless mistakes
